I’d been talking to my staffs about doing a live broadcast of a school event for more than a year. A few weeks ago, they finally decided to give it a try. They decided to use Livestream.com to broadcast the pep assembly at school last week and here is a little about what they learned-and what I learned watching them.

Mark Luckie of 10,000 Words posted a neat piece last week titled "How to Create Video Storyteling That Actually Tells a Story." The three videos that he talks about tell stories and should serve to ignite a second semester fire in your budding multimedia journalists.

Looking for some multimedia advice? Adam Westbrook has posted some for multimedia journalists on HSJ.org. The 32-page PDF covers quite a few topics and even offers suggestions for equipment to buy (all you have to do is convert a little currency since he's British).

"Best of JEA Broadcast: St. Louis 2008" Now Available In Bookstore PDF  | Print |

The "Best of JEA Broadcast: St. Louis, 2008" DVD is now available through the JEA bookstore. It features the "Superiors, Excellents and some Honorable Mentions at the St. Louis convention in broadcasting contests. It ought to be a valuable teaching tool and an incentive for students to enter their own work.
